Forest Stewardship Council
From 26-31 October over 700 FSC members, global leaders, Indigenous representatives, and sustainability experts came together in Panama for the 10th FSC General Assembly. Over the course of the week participants engaged in deep, thoughtful discussions on responsible forestry and voted on motions that will guide the direction of the FSC system in the years ahead.
FSC wanted to put together a video that communicated the social impact of their organisation and partners. I worked with Definition and FSC to create an energetic video that set an emotive tone to build excitement for event attendees.
Visual Styles & Storyboard
Despite a tight deadline it was important to build out a loose visual direction with style frames. This build a foundation and visual style reference moving forward. Two rounds of storyboarding were worked through with Definition and FSC before moving into production.
Process
This project required a diverse skill set spanning video and sound editing, motion design, sound design, and kinetic typography to communicate FSC’s message while maintaining audience engagement. I utilized Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere, and DaVinci Resolve throughout production.
The tight timeline presented unique challenges. Stakeholders frequently requested content changes mid-production due to the event’s significance. To maintain momentum, I implemented an agile production pipeline that kept the project on pace through delivery, particularly when revising animated copy on short notice.
Sound and music were crucial to unifying the motion design. I layered the soundtrack with vocal risers, hits, and stingers to add texture, then refined the final mix in Adobe Audition to ensure a polished beginning and ending within the on-screen running time.

Delivery
The stakeholders’ positive reception led to expanded scop they requested language variations in Spanish and French to extend the videos reach. Additionally, I adapted the video for multiple social media platforms to amplify PR and Communications efforts, reformatting for different aspect ratios and viewer behaviours across channels.
