Just Eat - 6 Nations Experience

The Byte tech team initiated a proactive brief for Just Eat.

The augmented reality game prompts users to pick a team in the rugby six nations. Players are required to flick as many burgers as possible over rugby posts in a 15 second time limit. Fireworks trigger in celebration of completing the game once the time is up.

The process began with style frames. Designing for augmented reality is uniquely challenging. Context is hard to envisage because augmented reality uses real-world environments. Users engage with AR in a variety of unpredictable ways.

Snapchat’s file limitation is 4mb. The limitation requires all assets to be stringently tested in an effort to maintain quality. I worked with a developer throughout production aiding with design and feedback on game mechanics. UI, modeling, texturing, animation and game mechanics required constant iteration to deliver a high-quality AR experience.

Fireworks were created using After Effects and trapcode. Cinema 4D was used to produce all 3D models and textures. Simple nonintrusive UI provided users clear feedback. To achieve this, I and a graphic designer worked together.
